  1. I just finished your book “The Gathering Murders”, outstanding…I ordered two more of your books as I was so impressed with your setting, characters, storyline and mostly, your writing. I’m in Mexico on holiday and when I tried to leave comments on Amazon…it was all in Spanish! I’ll comment, very favorably of course, to Amazon when I return home. Please keep writing!

  2. I have just finished The Gathering and enjoyed it very much. I have to thank you also for solving a 30+ year mystery for my sister and me in this book. Our great grandparents were from Scotland and immigrated to Vermont, USA. Throughout our childhood, living in Connecticut, we were treated to what our grandfather called “buttries”. These wonderful treats were brought to us from family visiting from Vermont. Beginning as young women and up to last evening, we searched high and low for these wonderful treats. Every baker in Vermont we visited looked at us as if we had 3 heads when we asked if they made “buttries”. Now, after all these years, you have given us the answer to our long quest! The Aberdeen Buttery! A silly misunderstanding of pronunciation! I called my sister immediately and we laughed ourselves to tears! Thank you so very much for this added bonus to your wonderful writing! You have a fan for life!

    1. Kim, that made me chuckle. How very kind of you to write. I have always loved butteries and, whenever I go home I seek them out. Sometimes I also make them! They are quite labour-intensive, but taste superb. Not great for cholesterol, though. Your grandfather’s pronunciation was perfect. Indeed, you have given me the idea for a fresh post on the blog, which I’ll get done as soon as I can.

  3. I stumbled across your book The Gathering Murders on Amazon, and have just finished it. As a resident of Mull, it rang any number of bells, and I look forward to reading the rest of the canon. Really good strong characters, some of whom I recognised immediately, and a faultless depiction of the location. Thank you very much

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comments. You live on a beautiful island. I played the Tobermoray golf course and still have a green fee visitors ticket on my old golf bag. £10 in 1996! I hope you enjoy some of the others.
